This policy explains the cookies and browser storage Diecast Markets Inc. uses on Diecast Markets, what is optional, and how to change your choice. Analytics and marketing are off by default. Nothing optional loads until you turn it on.
What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text record that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later requests. Local storage is a similar store that stays in your browser and is not sent with requests. A session cookie is removed when you close the browser; a persistent cookie stays until it expires or you delete it. A first-party cookie is set by the site you are visiting; a third-party cookie is set by another company's domain. Diecast Markets sets first-party cookies and storage. Google Analytics, if you allow it, sets first-party cookies on our domain and sends measurement data to Google.
Necessary storage (always on)
- Authentication and session. Supabase Auth sets cookies that keep you signed in and refresh your session. Their names are set by Supabase and begin with the project reference; they are required to use a signed-in account and are removed or expire when you sign out or the session ends.
- Admin session. A separate cookie is set only when an administrator signs in on the admin sign-in page. Ordinary users never receive it.
- Your cookie choice. Your decision on this banner is stored in local storage under
dm_cookie_consenttogether with the policy version (COOKIE_2026_09_V2) and the time you saved it. It is needed so we can honour your choice. - Development preview. A cookie named
dm_local_previewexists only for development on localhost and is ignored in production.
Preference storage (always on, first-party, stays in your browser)
Your light/dark theme choice, a flag that phone verification completed on this device, and an in-progress listing draft may be kept in local storage so the page can remember them. They are not sent to us and are not used for advertising or profiling. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.
Analytics (off by default)
If you allow analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a service of Google LLC. Analytics is not configured on this deployment, so even an allowed choice loads nothing.
- Before you allow it: no Google script is requested, no data is sent to Google, and no GA cookie is set. The GA loader reads your saved choice first and does nothing unless analytics is on for the current policy version.
- What GA4 processes: pages viewed, time on page, referrer, screen and browser type, approximate region derived from your IP address (IP anonymization is requested), and interaction events. GA4 sets first-party cookies on our domain, including one named
_gaand one beginning_ga_, to tell repeat visits apart. Google publishes the lifetime of these cookies; we do not shorten or extend them. - What we do not send: your email, name, shipping or mailing address, phone number, tax information, payment details, or your account identifier. Google Signals and ad personalization are turned off in our configuration.
- Why: to count visits, see which pages and features are used, find broken flows, and improve the marketplace. Google processes this data on our behalf and may do so outside Canada.
- Turning it off later: when you switch analytics off, the loader disables GA for our measurement id, tells GA that analytics storage is denied, and deletes the known GA first-party cookies from our domain. Data already sent to Google is handled under Google's retention settings for our property.
Marketing (off by default)
The marketing category is reserved. Diecast Markets does not set advertising or retargeting cookies today and does not run third-party ad tags. Choosing this category sets no cookie. If that changes, this policy will be updated with a new version and you will be asked again.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use in the footer of every page to accept all, reject non-essential, or change individual categories. The banner reappears automatically when this policy gets a new version. Your browser also lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site data; blocking necessary cookies will prevent sign-in. To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, Google offers a browser add-on.
